Pardon Me, Your Slip Is Showing

-->Druk Air is Bhutan’s national flag carrier, and the only airline that, for decades, operated commercial flights in and out of the country. We now have a second airline (domestic only) that attempts to give it some semblance of competition. As a monopoly holder of the air travel business, the airline had no need to spend money on advertising and, it would appear, even what little they spent was spent on pathetically inaccurate Posters, like the one reproduced below.

Take a careful look at the poster. There is something terribly erroneous about the poster. Let us see how many of you can spot the flaw in the poster.

  4. Firstly, Except the logo and a picture of plane It says nothing about the drukair who actually sponsored the advertisement.

Secondly, I think the altitude of Taktsang (i think is not correct)

i think it is 3,120 meters (10,240 ft) above sea level and about 900 meters above the Paro valley. ( I may be wrong too, Forgive me)

and lastly, the yellow words on the poster is hardly visible..

I think thats all i can find. ha ha

  6. The poster should read like this:
Taktsang, or the Tigress nest, lies at an altitude of 2,235 meters above the Paro valley. The monastery was built, part by part, by various saints in order to pay homage and tribute to Guru Rinpoche who, legend has it, flew on the back of a tigress and meditated in various caves of the cliff. Today it is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the country.

  8. Peldhen Sonam Nima is right .... The Druk Air got the altitude of Taktsang wrong. That is rather careless of them and not expected of an organization of their standing.

    1. WOOA ...i Got it right. its just common sense.... when Paro it self is more than 2000 meters above sea level, how can we expect Taktsang a mere hundred meters above Paro.

Aue Yeshi, thanks for the reminder. we hope drukair do the necessary correction. otherwise, it would appear that our country is giving all the wrong information starting from height of taktsang and all through to GNH.......

  9. Sigh...didn't even doubt that...I had some doubts on building it part by part or in tribute to....something seems amiss...we can phrase them better I guess.

  10. Taktsang does not lie in the valley. It is located on a cliff/hill top but not in the valley.
